Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King on March 6, 1957 in Accra, Ghana. The Kings were in Ghana at the invitation of Prime Minister Kwame Nkrumah to celebrate the end of British colonial rule and Ghana’s emergence as an independent nation. The King’s trip was paid for by the Montgomery Improvement Association and Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. In April 1957, Dr. King delivered a sermon to his congregation at the church about the trip and made the following observation: “The thing that impressed me more than anything else that night was the fact that when Nkrumah walked in, and his other ministers who had been in prison with him, they didn’t come in with the crowns and all of the other garments of kings, but they walked in with prison caps and the coats that they had lived with for all of the months that they had been in prison. Nkrumah stood up and made his closing speech to Parliament with the little cap that he wore in prison for several months and the coat that he wore in prison for several months and his ministers round about him. That was a great hour. An old Parliament passing away. And then at twelve o’clock that night we walked out. As we walked out, we noticed all over the polo grounds almost a half million people. They had waited for this hour and this moment for years.” Photo: Mark Kauffman, Time Life/Getty.

4-Year Old U.S. Adoptee Killed by “Water Therapy”
[TRIGGER WARNING: child abuse, death] As his 4-year-old adopted daughter Cassandra lay dying, Richard Killpack blamed her condition on “emotional problems” and “a really bad case of RAD [Reactive Attachment Disorder]" in his 911 call.
Killpack and his wife Jenette had punished the child for sneaking sips of her sister’s drink by sitting her on a bar stool, tying her hands behind her back with the help of their biological daughter, and forcing her to drink a lethal amount of water.
EMTs found the child unconscious with distended belly and pink foam from her mouth. Medical examiners declared cause of death water intoxication, a condition in which over-abundance of water causes sodium levels in the body to drop, resulting in fatal swelling of the brain.
"I said, ‘You’ll have to go to Mom and do the drinking-water thing,’" the Killpacks’ biological daughter Heather said in a police interview. "She makes her drink ‘til she pukes."

The Killpacks insist they were using “water therapy” to cure their adopted child’s disorder, stating in TV appearances that under the rules set by attachment therapists, Cassandra had to ask for everything, including food and water, “to help her understand dependency, that her mom and dad loved her.”

I’m disgusted. And to top it off the parents’ names are “Killpack”, Jesus.

Except you don’t get your children to you love you by having them beg for food and water.
What the fuck is wrong with these people???
ETA: The mother only served six years. The father was acquitted.  All because this four year old baby drank some of her [white] sister’s Kool-Aid.

the amount of incidents of horrific violence to adopted children of color…

I love you most.

She kisses her hair instead of her forehead.

oh my god that’s
that’s just
so subtly terrifying

THAT JUST BLEW MY MIND SO HARD

WHOAAAAAAA

This is actually a recurring theme throughout the entirety of Tangled - whenever Gothel is being affectionate to Rapunzel she’s directly focusing her affection to Rapunzel’s power - whether it be singing to the hair, kissing the hair or Gothel’s pet name for Rapunzel literally being “my flower”.
It’s one of those subtle things that once you notice becomes glaringly obvious and it’s why it’s difficult to take the “Gothel really loved Rapunzel!” apologists seriously.

And whenever Eugene is being more affectionate towards Rapunzel, he tends to to push her hair away from her face so as to see her face better.

i love this movieeee
